Dress your best and come celebrate summer in the city with our supergroup of singers and the incomparable Gold Star Band! The lineup includes an all star group from right here in San Francisco, bookended by the best soul DJs anywhere – Dick and Sama of the legendary Lower Haight record shop Rooky Ricardo's! Included with admission is a delicious summer cocktail from our friends at Templeton Rye Whiskey.
One year ago, Dusty Stax and friends teamed up with the Verdi Club to create an old fashioned soul dance party. This "prom for adults" was a smash. Next Dusty joined forces with the ever-curious San-Francisco-Lovin' people at The Bold Italic to bring you a "Winter Formal" that raised the party to the stratosphere of epicness. After the success of the "Spring Fling," we knew we had to keep right on with it, and we are proud to announce some additional singers in the Summer Formal lineup, along with the familiar faces you already know and love.
We are pleased to welcome back superstar songstress Carletta Sue Kay. Last time she set the Verdi ablaze with her powerful rendition of Etta James' "Somethin's Got a Hold On Me." Carletta is sure to get the joint rockin' and rollin'.
Bay Area soul crooner Freddie Hughes will be joining us to sing some of his chart topping hits from the '60s. Freddie is a powerful and soulful singer and a seasoned performer – surely one not to miss! We can't wait 'til he jumps on stage!
Our own Quinn DeVeaux will be back to bring his smooth style to the party. He'll be leading the Gold Star Band with a couple of his favorite soul classics – ones that are certain to bring you back.
We are pleased to welcome back Tahlia Harbour of Sonny and the Sunsets to sing for you. Tahlia has a beautiful voice and it's a treat to have her with us.
Paula Frazer, a true blue San Francisco singer, will be joining the lovely and talented Golden Girls (Em Gift and Meryl Press). Paula and the Girls are sure to win your hearts and break them all in the same night!
Singer Justin Frahm will be bringing you the sound of classic Detroit and Bob Reed of the Titan Ups will get you feeling good with his commanding soulful tunes.
If you have a snack attack while you're groovin' and movin,' we'll have cookies on hand from San Francisco's newest sweet sensation, BATCH baking! And our ace photographer, Gabriel Wheeler, will capture everyone in their gorgeous glory in his famous photobooth.
Not keen on walking all the way to the party in your dancing shoes? Ride in style. Lyft is hooking up every Summer Soul guest with a $5 credit for a private pick-up or ride home from one of their friendly drivers. (Details will be provided the week of the party to ticket holders.)
